Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened for frosting
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar for frosting
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar for frosting
- 2 tablespoons milk for frosting
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract for frosting
- 1 cup all-purpose flour for frosting
- 1/4 teaspoon salt for frosting
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips for frosting
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Stir in the vanilla extract
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt
Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips
Grease a muffin tin and evenly distribute the cookie dough into the cups
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden
While the cookie cups are cooling, prepare the cookie dough frosting
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy
Mix in the milk and vanilla extract
Gradually add the flour and salt to the frosting mixture, mixing until smooth
Fold in the mini chocolate chips
Once the cookie cups are completely cooled, pipe or spread the cookie dough frosting on top of each cup
Optional: Garnish with additional mini chocolate chips
